Testing by Sending an Email
Now you should be ready to test your SMS From Me setup with an email.
Go to your email client and send an email to email@example.com. The email message should look something like the following, just replace the various parameters with your own secret, key, etc. (more info):
Secret: Z-0987654321-A Key: A-1234567890-Z Destination: 9165551212 Message: This is my test message sent by email. End-Message:
First the message will appear in your SMS From MeDashboard. The message is marked as New in the Status column.
The Message Went Through
Assuming it works, it will be marked Sent within 5 minutes*. If you texted yourself, then you should be able to see that in your Messages feed. If you texted a friend, check with them.
The Message Failed
If the message cannot be sent (i.e. your phone does not have a SIM card, the phone cannot connect to a network, etc.), then the status becomes Error.
A message in error is tried again for 5 times total. If it fails 5 times, then the status becomes Failed and the message is abandonned.
Note that the system pauses between each attempt. The pause becomes longer and longer as to allow for the connectivity to come back. So a message in error may end up taking several hours before getting through.
Testing a Failure
At this point there is no phone number you can test with that will generate an error. We intent to add one at some point.
If you already registered with your email address and needed to re-validate (i.e. the first validation somehow failed) then go to the Validate Page where you can request for a new validation code to be emailed to you.
