Testing by Sending a Message From Your SMS From Me Account

For your first test, to make sure everything is properly setup, we suggest that you use the Send a Message menu option.

This option opens a popup form with three fields:

  • The destination cell phone number,
  • The text message,
  • a date when the message should be sent.

The date is optional and has to be written as YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS.

The destination cell phone number and message are both mandatory.

For test purposes, you can enter your cell phone number (yes! you can text yourself!) If you have a friend you can contact and tell that you will be testing your new SMS From Me application, you can use that friend's phone number.

Once you entered a phone number and message, click the Send button to send the message to the other end. If you put a date when the message should be sent, then the system will wait for that date and time before it sends the message. Note that is not going to be the exact date the text message is going to be sent. It only represents the soonest when it can happen.

Note that this pop up is really pretty much just for test purposes. You probably do not want to come here and enter all your messages from the Internet interface of SMS From Me. However, it is very practical to make sure everything works as expected.

How long does it take for the message to go through?

Assuming that this is the only message (no other messages are in front of it) then it will take between no time at all and the amount of time you used in your Processing frequency parameter on your phone. So by default this is going to be within about 5 to 6 minutes.

What's wrong? My phone does not seem to send anything...

We definitely have work to do on this one to help you find what is wrong. But we strongly suggest that you look for a misspelled Secret Key or App Key as visible in your App. Settings.

If you really cannot get it to send your text message, feel free to post a Support request (Menu / Support) or contact Alexis at 916 220 6482 or contact@m2osw.com.
